“Hakuho Championship Photo Portrait and Exhibition” (organized by The Mainichi Newspapers and Mainichi Building) is a hit at Art Salon Mainichi on the first floor west of Palaceside Building—and tomorrow, the 8th, yokozuna Hakuho himself will visit. Posters in the building now carry the red words “Hakuho is coming,” advertising to passersby.

The yokozuna is due at the west entrance at noon on the 8th and will go straight to the salon. For some 15 to 30 minutes around that time the hall will be closed; thank you for understanding.

Needless to say, Hakuho has recorded 34 makuuchi titles, surpassing the great yokozuna Taiho. The actual championship portrait from his 33rd title at the New Year basho is specially on view this time: 3.17 meters tall by 2.265 meters wide, 59 kilograms. Real presence. Visitors can photograph themselves in front of it, and many do.

On the 8th the yokozuna will surely pose before his own portrait.

The stretch from the west entrance to the salon is short, but it will be lunch hour, so considerable crowding is expected. If you come to see live Hakuho, please take care.
