The autumn comprehensive fire drill of the Palaceside Building Joint Fire and Disaster Management Council—organized by all tenants—was held on the rooftop and elsewhere from 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12. Held twice yearly in spring and autumn, it also falls within the autumn campaign period (Nov. 9–15). This time tenants

and building staff—about 570 people—took part.
The drill assumed a magnitude-6-upper earthquake: duck-and-cover, emergency announcements, in-building inspection, damage assessment; then a fire on B3 spreading, building-wide evacuation advisory, escape via emergency stairs to ground level. After assembling on the rooftop: extinguisher and indoor hydrant training =photos right top, AED rescue by Kojimachi fire station personnel =top photo, smoke experience =photos right bottom=—a full menu tackled with serious faces

throughout.

Rescue kits on floors 1, 5, and 8 were displayed; many examined unfamiliar tools with interest =photo left.
As in past years, Chiyoda Ward sent a shake simulator to the west entrance so participants could feel magnitude-7 shaking =photo bottom.
