Another Palaceside Building highlight: "A Photo Book of Fine Staircases" (BMC, photos by Nishioka Atsushi, Pie International, January) (cover, photo above)—which we had not yet introduced. Palaceside Building appears in this visual volume.
The obi invites you to "a dizzying world of spiral stairs, elegant handrails, beautiful undersides." BMC is "Building Mania Cafe," five Osaka enthusiasts (mostly academics) who love 1950s–70s architecture. Our 1966 building fits perfectly.
The stairs span four pages—

featured across an opening spread of the "Dream Stair" linking 1F central corridor and B1 concourse (photo left). A sample caption:
"Woven stainless net on a stainless shaft becomes the structure itself, suspending aluminum treads—no supporting columns; it seems to float."
An April blog noted magazine coverage and the Frozen ice-stair resemblance—this stair is famous in construction circles.
Page three (photo lower right) covers the 1F entrance stairs; noting

the circular cutout at the B1 restroom partition and curved handrails show sharp eyes.
A whole book on stairs surprises lay readers, but enjoy the variety and the depth of older buildings.
