Tax filing season is here. Paper returns run Feb 17 (Mon)–Mar 17 (Mon); e-Tax online filing has been open 24/7 since Jan 14.
Tax rules shift yearly—consumption tax rises this April. Expert advice helps. On the 12th from 10 a.m., the annual free consultation by Kojimachi Corporate Association and Tokyo Tax Accountants Association Kojimachi Branch began in the open space beside the 1F main entrance at Palaceside Building.
Four tax accountants and one Kojimachi tax office officer answered questions on filing for side income over ¥200,000, multiple employers, medical deductions and more. Two PCs on site helped with e-Tax; some chose proxy filing.
From FY25, salaried workers may claim broader necessary expenses—qualifications, books, clothing, entertainment—under conditions. Example: ¥4M income with ¥1M expenses: deduct ¥350,000 above the ¥650,000 specific-expense cap. Relocation costs not reimbursed by employers may qualify.
Sessions continue the 13th and 14th, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., same location.
