Next week is December — I will suppress grandpa talk about how fast the year flew, and look forward to a fun Christmas and New Year!
So: the Christmas tree. Department stores, large commercial facilities and shopping streets are starting to show trees and street illuminations; Christmas melodies play and the mood builds day by day. Our Palaceside Building unveiled a 6.2-meter big tree on the 25th in the atrium of the B1 shopping arcade.
This year’s theme is “calm grown-up brown & gold” — elegant and glittering, matching Palaceside Building’s image. The tree stand is a slightly pinkish brown; ornaments deliberately avoid classic red and blue, centering on gold and yellow.

Besides the big tree, we hung a Christmas tree with LED illuminations and ten kinds of gold and silver ball ornaments in the open space beside the main entrance; small trees left and right atop the atrium stairs =photo upper right (like medium and small Totoro, perhaps). On the 1F

and B1 corridor ceilings we hung cube “3D posters” in brown and gold reading “Merry Christmas 2013” =photo lower right; from the concourse wall to the Dream Staircase side we placed translucent pale brown and gold net veils =photo left lower, unifying ceiling, wall and tree decor.
At the big tree’s base and at the east main entrance reception and west The Mainichi Newspapers reception, we placed the soft-colored poinsettia variety “Vision of Grand

ale” as the theme flower.
Fifteen workers started decorating at 7:30 a.m. on the 24th. The large tree comes in three sections stacked carefully — big, heavy, in limited space — so everything, including other decor, was quite a job. All finished at 4 p.m. Thank you to the crew.
I think it turned out stylish. Please come see Palaceside Building’s Christmas decorations.
