Today, November 6, is "Chiyoda Ward Community Cleanup Day." Held twice yearly in spring (June) and autumn (November) under the Living Environment Ordinance, businesses, government offices, schools, JR and subway stations, neighborhood associations, and shopping districts across Chiyoda work together on beautification.

At Palaceside Building, about 110 people from building staff and tenant offices gathered at 8 a.m. by the west entrance on the Takebashi intersection side. With gloves, tongs, 45-liter bags, brooms, and dustpans, we started at once. At 8 a.m. (per my phone): 11°C, 72% humidity, 0% chance of rain, 0 m/s wind—a crisp autumn morning.

For about 30 minutes at each group's pace, we circled the building perimeter, under the Shuto Expressway, and sidewalks and plantings along Uchibori-dori—collecting cigarette butts, paper, plastic bags, wood chips, broken umbrellas, cans, etc. Unusual find: a dead pigeon hidden in shrubs.

Bags gathered at the main entrance were sorted by staff—about 300 liters total. Thank you, everyone.
