Palaceside Building introduced a new chiller, with a startup ceremony on the 5th.
Chillers here do not freeze fish — they run the building's air conditioning. They produce chilled water sent to the top of the building; that water cools air distributed throughout.
Palaceside Building has four such units. As they age, they are replaced in turn; with Chiller No. 2, renewal is complete. The new equipment features inverters, greatly improving energy efficiency.
In household AC equivalents: Units 1 and 4 each equal 1,000 units; Unit 3 equals 800; Unit 2 equals 500. Unit 3 serves as backup while 1, 2, and 4 are combined for best efficiency by weather — e.g., Units 1 and 4 in midsummer, Unit 2 alone often enough in spring and autumn.
At the ceremony, Mainichi Building president Makoto Mishima pledged continued effort for a safe, secure building; Fujii Hidemi of Sanki Industry's Tokyo branch promised full support so the new machines perform their role. When both flipped the switch, some 30 attendees applauded.
Palaceside Building continues planned equipment updates so tenants and visitors enjoy comfortable building life.
