Tanabata at Palaceside Building has become a summer fixture. From the 25th through July 7, decorations appear in the B1 and first-floor shopping arcade.
Meiten-kai, volunteers from building restaurants and shops (chair: Nakajima Sen, Akasaka Hanten president), started this five years ago with May carp streamers to share seasons and folk traditions.
Fifteen large paper lanterns hang from the B1 atrium ceiling; below, a small framework of bamboo-like pipes holds colorful Tanabata ornaments and tanzaku with wishes — later offered at Kanda Myojin. Member shops also display small bamboo Tanabata at entrances.
Marking the association's 45th year, from the 2nd most member shops run a lottery: 45 pairs of Mainichi Building Disney Resort passport tickets, 10 pairs of cruise meal vouchers, shop gift certificates, and more. Enjoy the building this summer too.
