Before the rainy season and concentrated downpours, Palaceside Building held a flood drill on the 27th. With major floods in Yamaguchi in 2009–2010, the Kii Peninsula last year, and recent tornadoes in Ibaraki amid extreme weather,

participants worked seriously, feeling the need to prepare for emergencies.

Forty-three people joined — Mainichi Building staff, security, facility managers, and cleaners. They practiced installing flood doors at two B2 entrances beside Tokyo Metro Takebashi Station: removing floor blocks and ceiling plates, pulling out 20cm-thick doors to the ceiling, reinforcing with steel bars. Then they trained on waterproof panels at the parking ramp and inspected equipment against guerrilla downpours.

They also ran the emergency water purifier (35 tons per cycle) and checked the building perimeter for flood entry points, reaffirming safety efforts.
