The six globe light fixtures that projected from both walls at the Palaceside Building basement escalator entrance are gone.
These globes were spherical glass covers about 40 cm in diameter on 5 cm iron pipes extending securely into the wall—no safety issue since the building opened in Showa 41 (1966), lighting people on escalators and stairs.

Since the Great East Japan Earthquake last year they had stayed unlit; other lighting and a large illuminated ad sign nearby kept the area bright enough, so they remained off for a year.
