A gathering in memory of Hayashi Shoji, former honorary adviser to Nikken Sekkei who designed Palaceside Building and many other landmark works and passed away on November 30 last year, was held on Saturday the 3rd at the ninth-floor restaurant Alaska in the same building.
The venue displayed panels of Hayashi in his youth, at work on architectural design, snapshots before completed office buildings, and representative works such as the San-ai Dream Center and Pola Gotanda Building. About 150 people from Nikken Sekkei, the architecture world, and university circles close to him attended. Besides honoring his achievements and praying for his repose, speeches introduced sides of Hayashi beyond the architect, and participants recalled and mourned him.
