On the 1st, the start of June, temperatures in central Tokyo topped 30°C—summer already in full swing. At the Palaceside Building, artificial foliage has been hung from the ceilings of the busy elevator halls at the east core on B1 and the west core on B2, creating spaces that invite a sense of cool.

By decorating the hall ceilings with greenery that suggests nature, the design evokes sunlight filtering through trees. The decorations are scheduled to remain through the end of September.

Last week the Palaceside Building also began operating the mist generators on the large canopy at the west entrance (known as the Umbrella). Twenty-eight spray nozzles on the inside and outside of the canopy send out a vigorous “water curtain” of mist to greet visitors.
