Brightly colored carp-streamer decorations have appeared this week inside the Palaceside Building. A black magoi, a red higoi, and a blue child carp swim together with streamers through the atrium between B1 and the first floor. Cute mini streamers have also been set out in front of shop and office entrances on both floors.

The streamers in the atrium are fine pieces made with Gujo honzome, a traditional craft of Gifu Prefecture. On the side wall, a streamer recreating “kanzarashi”—a winter process of rinsing in icy water—is also on display.

Ahead of the Palaceside Building’s 60th anniversary this autumn, tapestries thanking building users have been hung for the first time in two locations.
