On the 6th, Chiyoda Ward Cleanup Day—a campaign to beautify the whole district—about 80 volunteers from 12 tenant companies in the Palaceside Building sweated over litter pickup around the building.
The cleanup is held every June and November under the ward’s Living Environment Ordinance, which calls on people who live in Chiyoda to keep the streets beautiful. The Palaceside Building has taken part since the program began in 1999.
Participants gathered at 8:00 a.m. in front of the west entrance, received work gloves, pickup tongs, and trash bags supplied by the building, and began cleaning the surrounding streets. Cigarette butts, empty cans, PET bottles, and other refuse filled fifteen 90-liter bags.
