The Corporate History Fair in Chiyoda, co-hosted by The Mainichi Newspapers and the Kanagawa Prefectural Kawasaki Library, will be held on July 16 and 17 at Mainichi Hall on the first basement level of the Palaceside Building. On display will be some 100 corporate histories drawn from the collection of the Kawasaki Library (Takatsu Ward, Kawasaki), which boasts one of the largest such holdings in Japan. Also on show will be 15 news photographs frequently used in corporate histories, selected from Mainichi Photo Bank, the photo database of The Mainichi Newspapers. Admission is free. Come and see what corporate histories look like today.
The Kawasaki Library's collection of corporate histories now numbers about 22,000 volumes, ranking among the nation's finest in both quantity and quality. The library has held a Corporate History Fair every year since 2014, and this special Chiyoda edition will present about 80 “favorite corporate histories” named by recent fair visitors, each accompanied by an explanatory panel, along with some 20 particularly distinctive volumes.
News photographs released through Mainichi Photo Bank, Japan's largest photo database for corporate clients, have appeared in many corporate histories and commemorative publications, and the fair will display the most frequently used and popular photographs alongside the corporate histories in which they actually appeared.
