Ahead of the rainy season, the Palaceside Building held a flood-prevention drill on the 11th. About 60 building staff took part. They practiced closing flood doors at two B2 entrances and reviewed procedures for installing flood boards at locations around the building, including the ground-level entrance to the underground parking garage.
At the entrance in front of the escalator leading to the Takebashi Station ticket gates, several people pulled out a huge stored flood door (photo) and fixed it from inside the building with reinforcing steel bars.
Urban flooding from typhoons and torrential rain has become frequent in many places in recent years. The annual flood-prevention drill prepares the building for an emergency.
