The northwest smoking room on the first floor of the Palaceside Building newly reopened this month. Counter-type air purifiers were removed to secure a more spacious room, and benches were installed. The glass facing the Chiyoda Ward street was replaced with clear glass, so daylight now enters and the room feels open.

The renovation aims to improve comfort. High-performance deodorizers and heating-and-cooling units were newly installed, and brighter lighting was fitted to heighten illumination. Because the glass is transparent, the interior can also be seen from outside.
