The public opening of Inui-dori at the Imperial Palace, where visitors enjoy the colored trees, began on November 30. On Monday, December 2—a weekday—fine weather still drew many people from early morning. The opening runs through December 8.
Inui-dori was first opened to the public in April 2014 to mark the 80th birthday of Emperor Emeritus Akihito. It had been held each spring and autumn; after cancellations during the pandemic from spring 2020, it resumed in autumn 2022.
The path is an avenue of about 750 meters from Sakashita-mon on the Marunouchi side of Tokyo Station, past the Imperial Household Agency building, to Inui-mon on the Kitanomaru Park side. Some Japanese maples and Chinese maples along the way have colored, but because warm days continued even after autumn arrived, the peak of the foliage is still ahead.
