TV Tokyo’s popular information program “Shutsubo! Ad-machikku Tengoku” will feature the Takebashi district of Tokyo from 9:00 p.m. this Saturday, November 30. The building that symbolizes Takebashi is, without question, the Palaceside Building. A teaser on the program’s website reads, “The street’s landmark♪ Infiltrating the rooftop of the cylindrical building.” Alongside the appeal of the building as notable architecture, the show is expected to introduce signature dishes from several restaurants inside.

“Ad-machi,” a long-running program more than 20 years old, examines a single neighborhood from many angles and presents it as a ranking (best 20). For the Palaceside Building, crews filmed the lively lunchtime restaurant floors, the spectacular rooftop view of the Imperial Palace, and distinctive elevator halls and restrooms. Promotional copy continues: “A storied barbershop of seasoned hands that even a former prime minister visited,” “Exquisite tantanmen that captivates trading-company staff,” “A Western restaurant founded in the Edo period!? Hirame fry and japone.”

Beyond the building, the program is expected to cover Gakushi Kaikan, a nationally registered tangible cultural property whose operations will end this year, the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, with one of the country’s largest collections, and the National Archives of Japan.
