The Tokyo Metropolitan Red Cross Blood Center has dispatched a bloodmobile to the west entrance of the Palaceside Building and, from 10:00 a.m. today, is calling for donors. Reception is one hour in the morning and from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon. The center says, “We need 60 or more donors at this site. Please spread the word to those around you.”
The Palaceside Building hosts blood-donation sites twice a year, in spring and autumn. The draw itself takes about 10 minutes, but with interviews and other steps the visit lasts 30 to 40 minutes through the end of reception. Donors receive test results including ALT (GTP) and γ-GTP.
The center asks donors to (1) get at least four hours of sleep and (2) eat breakfast (a light meal is fine) if donating in the morning. Certain medications may make donation impossible; please consult the staff. Reservations can also be made through the website.
