A calligraphy exhibition by the Daiichimaru Club, a group formed mainly of members of a study delegation of Mainichi Calligraphy Exhibition member prize winners that visited China in September 2010, is underway at Art Salon Mainichi on the first floor of the Palaceside Building through the 27th of this month. Titled "A 13-Year Journey," the show brings together fine works by 15 calligraphers, including delegation leader Taiun Tsujimoto and deputy leader Kenshi Maruo.
Since the China trip, club members have held exhibitions in Paris, France, and Vienna, Austria, as well as charity shows in areas struck by the Great East Japan Earthquake. A retrospective exhibition looking back on these activities had been in the works for several years, but the COVID-19 pandemic long kept it from being realized.
Showcasing the members' growth since the China visit, the exhibition offers a taste of the beauty and joy of calligraphy. Admission is free.
