The kitchen cars that appear every Thursday in front of the Palaceside Building's west entrance will mark one full year of service next month. The lineup has changed from the original trucks; two now operate at lunchtime, one serving hamburgers and the other the Vietnamese sandwich banh mi, and both are well received.

WAYBACK BURGERS Omotesando No. 1, which serves generous burgers, uses 100 percent beef patties. The signature is the Classic Burger, smashed to order to draw out the meat's flavor. Also recommended are the Cheeseburger, with buns toasted in butter oil and rich cheddar, and the Rodeo Burger finished with onion rings and BBQ sauce. Fresh-fried French fries and onion rings are another point of pride.

Taka Banh mi, which serves banh mi, offers a wide range including the Standard Banh mi with roast pork and Vietnamese ham and the Special Banh mi with added tamagoyaki for extra umami. There are also Yakibuta Rice with seasoned roast pork and Vietnamese Kakuni Rice with braised pork, both faithful to authentic flavors.

Please enjoy the restaurants inside the building as well, and now and then change the mood with a kitchen-car lunch.
