Tanabata decorations, a summer fixture at the Palaceside Building, appeared on the 10th. The Palaceside Building Merchants Association (chair Yukimasa Shimada), made up of volunteer restaurants and shops, holds the annual Tanabata Festival with the building's cooperation. Colorful streamers and bamboo decorations for tying tanzaku strips were hung in the atrium of the first-floor and first-basement central corridor, creating a festive space.

Twenty-seven large streamers hang from the ceiling, 12 more than last year. Three of them are lavish 3.5-meter blue, green and yellow streamers also used at the Sendai Tanabata Festival, one of the Tohoku region's three great festivals. Two bamboo-decoration stands were set in the basement corridor, and mini bamboo decorations were placed in front of shops and offices on both floors.

The popular corner for writing wishes on tanzaku returned, and from the first day people coming back from meals tied their slips to the bamboo. After the festival the slips will be dedicated at Kanda Myojin.
