Carp streamers have appeared from the start of this week in the arcade on the first basement and first floors of the Palaceside Building. In the atrium, a windsock, a black magoi, a red higoi and a blue child carp swim together, and above the western "Stairway of Dreams" hangs a stirring 7-meter warrior banner depicting the Battle of Kawanakajima. All are traditional Gujo honzome crafts from Gifu Prefecture, dyed by a technique handed down for more than 400 years.

The large carp and warrior banners were made by Shokichi Watanabe, 14th-generation head of the Gujo Hachiman dye house Hishiya and a holder of Gujo honzome technique, who died in October 2018 at 83. The Palaceside Building Merchants Association bought them in 2009 so that "people who work in the building and visitors can enjoy a sense of the season," and began displaying them. Mini carp streamers also swim at shop and office entrances on the first and basement floors.
