Tomod's Takebashi Palaceside opened on the 15th on the east side of the first basement floor, just before the Hitotsubashi entrance. Tenants have long asked for a drugstore, and the building's management worked to attract one.
The main lineup is pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and daily sundries such as detergent, but a well-stocked food section is a major feature. Besides frozen boxed lunches and pasta aimed at office workers, the shop sells cup noodles, bread, drinks, ice cream and sweets.
Tomod's is an affiliate of Sumitomo Corporation, founded in 1993. It now operates more than 200 stores, mainly in the Tokyo metropolitan area, and more than 70 percent have dispensing functions. The Palaceside store is scheduled to open a pharmacy in February next year.
