A sales event for Nishidori Pudding, a popular sweet born in a bustling district of Fukuoka, began on the 21st in the pop-up space on the east side of the Palaceside Building's first basement floor. Known for the silky-smooth texture unique to steamed pudding, it will be on sale through Friday the 25th.
Nishidori Pudding traces its origins to 2006, when the founding owner-patissier began selling from a yellow van, mainly along the Tenjin Nishidori shopping street. The signature flavor, "Poche," takes its name from the French word "pocher," meaning to cook something slowly in low-temperature liquid. Helped by its catchy brand name, it has won a following as one of Kyushu's signature local puddings.
The limited-time lineup features "Poche" topped with slightly bitter caramel sauce, along with Rich Custard, Amaou Strawberry, Yame Tea, Rich Milk, Mango, Tiramisu and Salted Caramel varieties, as well as "Pudding de Cheese," a cheesecake born from the pudding.
