There is, we are told, an unprecedented roasted-sweet-potato boom. Sweet yet nutritious and ideal for dieting — that is said to be why they are popular. Sales of the winter favorite began today, the 24th, for a planned three days in the popup space on the east side of the first basement, and they are already a hit.
According to specialists, before 2002 fluffy types such as Beniazuma dominated, then moist, sticky Anno sweet potatoes drew attention, and the refined sweetness of similarly moist Beniharuka pushed the boom further. The sale offers Beniharuka roasted potatoes (far-infrared roast, M size 650 yen tax included), dried sweet potatoes (150 g, 700 yen tax included) and raw potatoes (washed, M size 300 yen tax included).
They are tasty and inexpensive, and many people eat them as health food, so fans of all ages are growing fast. Another strength is that they are no longer strictly a winter item. The consensus is that the roasted-sweet-potato boom will continue for some time.
