The public opening of Inui-dori at the Imperial Palace, where vividly colored trees can be admired, began on the 26th of this month for the first time in three years, and 7,220 people enjoyed the foliage on the first day. On the 28th, the third day, crowds arrived from early morning even though it was a weekday. The opening runs through December 4.
Inui-dori was first opened to the public in April 2014 to mark the then Emperor's 80th birthday. It had been held each spring and autumn, but after autumn 2019 it was cancelled because of COVID-19.
Visitors are asked to have their temperature taken and wear masks at Sakashita-mon on the Tokyo Station side, then walk one way about 750 meters to Inui-mon toward Kitanomaru Park. Iroha maple and trident maple along the path have colored, and winter cherry and shikizakura were blooming daintily.
