A display-and-sale of specialties from disaster-hit Iwate Prefecture is being held on the 21st in the free space beside the main entrance on the first floor of the Palaceside Building. It had been a monthly event, but COVID-19 forced repeated cancellations, so this is the first sale in three months. Familiar Nanbu senbei at half the usual price and other bargains are popular.
Billed as the "Iwate Prefecture Great East Japan Earthquake Recovery Support Fair," it offers seaweed and other seafood and Maezawa-gyu ramen, but the highlight this time is the markdowns. Nanbu senbei (peanut, sesame and others) drop from the usual 400 yen to 200 yen; assortment packs from 600 yen to 300 yen; horohoro-zuke from 380 yen to 190 yen. With events sharply reduced by COVID-19, more products are nearing their best-before dates, so the sale aims to clear them early. Please offer your support.
