It has been nearly a month since the glossy Tanabata decorations appeared at the Palaceside Building. Tanzaku strips with wishes written on them have kept increasing day by day; the bamboo leaves are now clustered like fruit. With gloomy news—the pandemic, a wave of price hikes, war—piling up, many people seem to want to pray and to wish.

Wanting to introduce unique wishes, the TOKYO MX information program “Saturday Is Colorful!!!” (every Saturday from noon) came to report last week. According to the staff, Tanabata decorations appear around the country once July arrives, but spots where anyone can write a tanzaku from early June are few.

The staff took time walking among the strips and photographed several. They are scheduled to be featured this weekend, Saturday, July 2. The tanzaku you wrote may be the one they introduce.
