The man delivering a sharp karate punch looks stylish. In a mask he is a little hard to recognize, but he is comedian Takushi Tanaka of Ungirls. He posted the shot to his Instagram after visiting the Palaceside Building on location for the NHK BS Premium special “Buildings That Really Lift You Up,” which aired last November.
That special will air again on NHK General (terrestrial) at 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, a national holiday. It is a compact 45-minute cut of the BS Premium edition. It had been slated for December, but an emergency special pushed the date back again and again.
According to the director, after the BS broadcast many viewers wrote in praise—“I never thought looking at buildings could lift my mood this much. Everything I saw was new”; “It broke the idea that a building is just a building. I learned for the first time that the design makes the most of a tight site and considers the surrounding landscape”; “I understood the thought put into each building”—and a terrestrial rebroadcast was decided.
