The NHK special that introduced the charms of the Palaceside Building, “Buildings That Really Lift You Up,” airs at 10:00 p.m. on the 20th of this month on NHK General. The 89-minute program of the same name that ran on NHK BS Premium in November was so well received that it has been recut to 45 minutes. We hope you will tune in.

It is a travel program pairing comedian Takushi Tanaka of Ungirls, who studied architecture at university, with actor Munetaka Aoki, a building enthusiast. Besides the Palaceside Building, it features noted works such as the Nissay Theatre (Nippon Life Hibiya Building) and Keio Plaza Hotel, which opened as a high-rise hotel.

The program page on the NHK website proclaims, “A building-by-building architectural mystery show is born!” Of the Palaceside Building it says: “A pioneering giant mixed-use office building,” “packed with refinements in the pursuit of comfort,” and “From the placement of the restrooms to the design of the eaves, there is no slack anywhere—please look for that thoroughness.”
