In step with Tokyo’s shift from its “rebound prevention period” for COVID-19 to a “period of thorough basic measures” (October 25 through November 30), the building reopened the smoking room on the east side of the first floor on the 26th. Together with the north-side first-floor smoking room, which has been open since October 4, we invite smokers to make use of them.

The east first-floor smoking room is open for the first time in fully 10 months, since December 20. As before the closure, occupancy is limited to 12 people at a time. Users are also asked to stay no more than five minutes and to refrain from conversation—among other infection-control rules. We ask for your cooperation.

During the period of thorough basic measures, Tokyo is asking the public to (1) keep up basic precautions such as avoiding the “three Cs,” maintaining distance, wearing masks, and washing hands; (2) avoid crowded places and times; and (3) observe basic precautions when returning home or traveling. Governor Yuriko Koike said: “Please be even more careful than before with masks and the like. The numbers of infections and severe cases are falling, and we want to hold the line here at all costs.”
