Have you heard of a shop called TOBICHI? It is the directly run store of Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun, or “Hobonichi,” the popular website led by copywriter Shigesato Itoi, and this January it moved from Aoyama to Kanda-Nishikicho -- right next door to Takebashi -- and reopened in its new home. While TOBICHI sells Hobonichi-related goods, it also serves as a gallery and an event venue, and it looks like a genuinely fun place. Why not stop by for a visit?

The concept is that “TOBICHI is not merely a shop, but also a tobichi -- an enclave -- for the artists and groups who collaborate with Hobonichi.” It opened on the first floor of the company's head office building in Kanda-Nishikicho, in step with Hobonichi's headquarters relocation.

The store carries the products sold on the website, and the most popular of them is the original Hobonichi Techo planner. Its greatest feature is the freedom offered by a full page for every day, and it has earned a devoted following as an “evolving planner,” refined year after year on the basis of the many opinions and requests sent in by its users. Books born from the site's content are also on sale.
