The Tokyo Paralympic Games opened on the night of August 24. Ahead of the opening ceremony, at around 2 p.m. that day, the Blue Impulse aerobatic team of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force circled the skies over central Tokyo trailing smoke in three colors: red, blue and green.

The six aircraft, which had taken off from Iruma Air Base in Saitama Prefecture, entered the airspace over central Tokyo from the west and headed north, vividly drawing lines in the same three colors as the Three Agitos, the symbol of the Paralympics. The sky was unfortunately overcast, but the colorful smoke overhead drew cheers from the people looking up from the rooftop of the Palaceside Building.
