Risshun has passed and the first spring wind has blown, so I thought of going to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace to photograph plum blossoms—only to learn, “From the standpoint of preventing the spread of COVID-19, the gardens will be closed for the time being.” It cannot be helped, but it is a pity.
The “income-tax return consultation” usually held at the Palaceside Building around this time is also canceled. The state of emergency has been extended, and every nearby venue is off as well. Advice on preparing returns is available at Kojimachi Tax Office through Monday, February 15, and from Tuesday the 16th at the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau. Entry requires a numbered ticket. For details, contact Kojimachi Tax Office (phone 3221-6011).
Looking at the National Tax Agency website, a press release caught my eye: “The filing and payment deadline for income tax, gift tax, and consumption tax for sole proprietors will be extended through Thursday, April 15, 2021.” I thought I was a little lucky—but then I remembered last year was extended too, and I still filed at the last minute....
If you need to file, please prepare early and do your best.
