A running station, “Re.Ra.Ku PRO Running Takebashi Imperial Palace Front,” has opened on the first floor of the Palaceside Building. It looks set to become a popular base for runners circling the Imperial Palace. The catchphrase is “A running station linked directly to the palace and the station.” It has a nice ring.
It is the first shop of a more sports-oriented new brand launched by Medirom Inc., which operates Re.Ra.Ku studios offering stretch and body-care health services mainly in the Kanto region.
Together with Suguru Osako, the Japanese men’s marathon record holder and a Tokyo Olympic representative, the company developed a new relaxation treatment aimed at recovering from exercise fatigue and improving sports performance. It supports people taking up running in building a body they can trust, without fearing injury.
Facility fees include an 800-yen single-use plan (locker and shower) and unlimited monthly plans from 3,600 yen (locker, shower, and bath-towel rental), with wear and shoe rental also available.
As an opening campaign, a 40-minute body-care session (normally 5,060 yen) is 2,000 yen through January 31, and in February body care is discounted by up to 29 percent. The treatment developed with Osako is scheduled to start in February.
