The Palaceside Building’s regular autumn blood drive began at 10:00 a.m. on the 24th. Reception is in the west first-floor entrance hall, and a donation bus waits at the door. Typhoon No. 12, which had been a worry, had little effect, and staff of the Tokyo Metropolitan Red Cross Blood Center are calling for as many people as possible to help.
This afternoon’s reception is from 12:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tomorrow, the 25th, it also runs from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. and from 12:15 to 4:00 p.m.
According to the center, COVID-19 measures are thorough: visitors have their temperature taken, disinfect their hands, and wear masks. Inside the bus, spacing is ample and numbers are limited. Staff change gloves for each donor and carefully disinfect equipment in the venue.
Since the state of emergency, many workplace and school drives in Tokyo have been canceled. In July, donations were about 3,900 people short of hospital demand in the capital. The gap has been filled by blood from other prefectures. In a spirit of mutual aid, we hope you will take this chance to donate.
