A multipurpose restroom on the second basement west side of the Palaceside Building is complete and opened on the 24th. The photo above is a composite, so it is a little warped (sweat). The building already has a multipurpose restroom on B2 east; this is the second.
The new restroom is just to the right after you leave the west-core elevator hall on B2 into the parking garage, around the exit gate. This time we also rebuilt the doorway from the elevator hall to the garage as an automatic door.
The new restroom was remodeled from a former men's room: the men's room was reduced to one urinal and one stall, and the remaining space became one multipurpose room. Inside are a toilet, handrails, a sink, a baby sheet, a baby chair, a fitting board (a platform for changing after removing shoes), a shower for ostomates and, of course, an emergency call button.
Along with this addition we also moved the accessible parking on B2. It used to sit near the east-west midpoint of the garage; we shifted it to the spot closest to the new restroom, making the restroom easier to use =see photo below. People using the B2 east multipurpose restroom can park in the existing accessible spaces near the east elevator hall on B4 and take the elevator up to B2.
Anyone may use a multipurpose restroom if it is free. Please give priority, though, to people with disabilities, those with small children and others who need it. Thank you for your cooperation.
The Palaceside Building is more than half a century old and cannot match the newest buildings, but we will keep working toward barrier-free access, including elevator accessibility (lower buttons, voice guidance).
