On Chiyoda Ward All-Together Cleanup Day, November 6, 138 Palaceside Building tenant staff and others took part and, in warm autumn sun, worked up a pleasant sweat picking litter. This time, as a “lingering” of the “national-flag decoration” marking 1,000 days to Tokyo 2020, which ran through the 5th, many flags were still up, so the work was watched over by the flags of the world (photo above).

The cleanup is held every June and November under the Chiyoda Living Environment Ordinance so people can beautify the streets themselves. The Palaceside Building has taken part from the start.

The day was crystal clear — perfect “cleaning weather.” At 8:00 a.m. they gathered in front of the west entrance, took litter tongs

, work gloves and bags prepared by the building, and for about 30 minutes walked the plantings and sidewalks around the building picking paper, cigarette butts, cans and PET bottles. Not only the “front” on Uchibori-dori but the expressway side was cleaned too (photo at right).

Bags were collected in front of the east main entrance (photo below left), filling fifteen 45-liter bags of burnable, non-burnable, bottles, cans and PET bottles. What stood out this time was umbrellas; several came in a bunch (photo below right). Please throw them away as trash by the rules.

The cleanup drew 50 from NTT Business Associate, 26 from FamilyMart, 20 from MS&AD Systems, five from Lacras, and building staff, facilities and cleaning — nine workplaces in all.

Thank you to everyone who helped. Well done.
