Myojinmaru Takebashi Palaceside Building store opens on July 12. An izakaya with a point of pride, starring straw-grilled katsuo tataki. Lunch is enjoyable too. The site is the first-basement south side toward Hitotsubashi-guchi, where Doutor Coffee and Katsugyu were. Two former shops’ space, quite roomy: 91 seats in all. Preparations are in the final stretch; you can glimpse the interior through the glass, and expectations for opening are rising.

It is run by Myojin Shokuhin, in the group of pole-and-line skipjack firm Myojin Suisan (head office Kuroshio, Hata District, Kochi; president Norihiko Nishizaka). The group is skipjack-centered Myojin Suisan (fishery and processing), the farm corporation Myojin Farm, and straw-grilled tataki specialist Myojin Shokuhin. Besides selling farm and fishery products including by mail order, a major feature seems to be that core materials for Myojinmaru’s straw-grilled katsuo tataki come from the group itself: the fish from “Suisan,” straw, rice and condiments from “Farm.” (See the diagram at right = from the Myojin Suisan site.)
Advance notice of the Takebashi Palaceside store is already on gourmet sites. Here is the copy from Tabelog (photo at left, below).

[One minute from Takebashi Station!] Pole-and-line fishing, landing fish one after another with a single rod. Enjoy to the full fresh skipjack landed by the Kochi pole-and-line boat “Myojinmaru”! Our signature “straw-grilled katsuo tataki” is a painstaking dish that begins grilling over straw after you order ◎ Enjoy thick-cut katsuo with salt or a special sauce ♪ Other Tosa ingredients line up too. Fresh vegetables full of nutrition from nature’s bounty, local chicken “Tosa Jiro,” even Shimanto beef. As far as possible, superb dishes that insist on Kochi ingredients. On Gurunavi I also found the line “A space that has Hirome Market in mind!” Hirome Market? Not knowing Kochi well, I looked it up. Kochi’s tourism site Yosakoi Net (https://www.attaka.or.jp/kanko/dtl.php?ID=2250) says the following, with photos (photo at left).
Here every day is Sunday market. A Heisei romantic shopping street.
In the center of Kochi City, a two-minute walk from Kochi Castle, a tourist facility next to the Sunday market.
Restaurants for tasting Tosa, lively fresh-fish shops, unique variety stores…
More than 60 shops of many characters gather; more than a market, the atmosphere is a bustling “stall village.”
Food and drink bought in the market can be eaten freely at tables and chairs in a plaza, streets and alleys of about 400 seats.
Needless to say, there is a Myojinmaru shop inside Hirome Market as well.
What kind of shop will it become? Opening is at 11:30 on the 12th, from lunch.
