Palaceside Building’s usual Christmas trees have appeared again this year in the atrium of the first-basement central corridor (photo above).

They went up at the start of this week, about a week later than last year. Instead of one big tree over six meters as in past years, nearly ten-meter red and green big crosses hang from the atrium ceiling in a triangular, tree-like drape, with two 2.7-meter trees lined up east and west of

them. On the ceiling, red, white and light-green Christmas balloons of mixed sizes are placed. From the first floor it looks like the photo at left — quite powerful.
In front of each shop on the first-floor and first-basement corridors, round panels with “50th Anniversary” (the building’s 50th year) and “Merry Christmas 2016” are up; balloons and ribbons decorate concourse walls and the sides of the Dream Stairs (photo at right). Smaller trees stand in the free space by the east main entrance and left and right at the top of the Dream Stairs on the first floor (photo below).
November is half gone. For the rest of the month the Palaceside Building Meitencai (chair Hiroaki Okada, president of Sakae Co., which runs Tea Room Hana) is running a stamp rally with prizes including a 4K television (40 inches). Spend 500 yen or more on a meal or goods at a member shop and you get one stamp per visit; five stamps earn one draw. Draws are November 16 (Wed), 22 (Tue) and 30 (Wed), lunch (11:30–13:30) and evening (17:00–19:30) each day.
When the stamp rally ends it is already December. Moods lift toward a happy Christmas and New Year.
If you are nearby, please do see the Palaceside Building trees.
