On September 29 an outreach blood drive was held in front of Palaceside Building’s west entrance. In the morning nine people were received at once.

Palaceside Building takes this on twice a year, spring and autumn. Lately two days each time has become the rule; it will also be held tomorrow the 30th.

The 29th had a little unstable weather, with rain forecast from the afternoon, and Red Cross staff were also wor-

ried. If you are reading this blog, please do help this afternoon or on the 30th.

Blood is short. Transfusion medicine has outpaced itself with chemotherapy and bone-marrow transplants, while donors have fallen with a shrinking birthrate and aging; shortage has become chronic. This year unsettled weather, including successive typhoon landfalls, has added to it. Outreach drives have even been canceled by typhoons.

Reception is 12:15–4:00 p.m. on the 29th; on the 30th 10:00–11:00 a.m. and 12:15–4:00 p.m. The draw itself takes about 10 minutes, but with a doctor’s interview it is 30–40 minutes from reception to finish.

Past donors please bring a donation card or booklet; others, ID (a staff badge is fine).

Donors later receive by post (free) results for 15 items including ALT (GTP), γ-GTP, cholesterol and glycoalbumin.

Please, as many as possible, help.
