A New Year tradition — the Palaceside Building self-defense fire brigade's de-shobu ceremony was held on the 7th in the morning

on the rooftop.

About 70 people took part from Mainichi Building Co., which manages the building; Globeship, in charge of facilities; Aingu and Tokyo Center on security; and Seibi on cleaning, among partner companies. At the 10:00 a.m. start, warm sunshine poured down for the season; the temperature was 10.1°C — an unusually perfect day for training.

Training covered three drills: initial firefighting with extinguishers (using water, not agent), hose discharge, and rescue/first-aid assuming injuries.

Hose training from indoor standpipes = photo above = aims to hit the round target marked with the character for “fire.” Not just spraying — take the hose from the red box = photo upper right, dash to the source = photo lower right, then discharge, like the real thing. Everyone worked with serious faces.

Rescue and first-aid training used triangular bandages, improvised stretchers and AEDs. Bandage the “injured,” load onto a stretcher

and carry. CPR training with an AED on a dummy = photo left = was also conducted.

In extinguisher training, teams of four, at the leader's command, shouted “Fire!” loudly and doused red cones vigorously with water.

This year, too, we will keep training steadily toward a safe, secure building.
