On Tuesday, September 29 and Wednesday, September 30, a blood donation bus will visit in front of the Palaceside Building west entrance for a mobile blood drive.
Palaceside Building holds mobile blood drives twice a year, spring and autumn (photo from February 3 this year). This round continues that schedule, and like last spring, it runs for two days.
Both days, reception is 10–11 a.m. and 12:15–4 p.m. Collection itself takes about ten minutes, but with a doctor's interview, expect 30–40 minutes from reception to finish.
The Japanese Red Cross requires at least four hours of sleep before donation (fatigue without enough rest can cause temporary low blood pressure and feeling unwell afterward). Those donating in the morning are asked to have breakfast (a light meal is fine).
You cannot donate if, for example, you have received a transfusion or organ transplant, returned from overseas within four weeks, or had dental treatment with bleeding within three days.
Some medications also rule out donation, but restrictions on blood-pressure drugs were recently eased — two or more types may be OK if there are no complications such as heart disease and blood pressure is near normal. Vitamins (except for anemia treatment), minerals (except iron for anemia), and kampo (except for liver disease, colds, asthma, etc.) may be taken on the day. Ask on site about anything else.
We hope as many people as possible will help.
