Lighting at the Palaceside Building escalators and the west elevator-tower entrance, after leaving the Tokyo Metro Takebashi Station gates, has been switched to LED. First compare the view in front of the kiosk.

The photo above is now; the photo at right is how it looked through March.
Work finished by the end of March, so many will have noticed (a friend who passes every day said, “Really? Was that so?”…).
As the photos show, two rows of square fluorescent lights once stood; now, just before entering the building, there are round downlights, and nearer the subway gates, square LEDs. LEDs really are bright. The ceiling was also refurbished to a shine, and the surrounding yellow tiles became walls of matte-black “melamine noncombustible decorative board.” The photos above are a little hard to read. See the Before and After below.
Also look at the photo below of the west elevator-tower entrance. What do you think? Has it not become more chic?
This work both beautified lights worn by age

and saved energy by switching from fluorescents

to LED. In the same period, LED conversion was also done on the building’s outer ring—the west entrance, Hitotsubashi gate (Hakusan-dori side) and lights under the expressway.
We will keep making various upgrades toward a more comfortable building.
